This show is a spunky and intelligent late-Restoration comedy replete with young lovers blocked in marriage by disapproving fathers and forced to woo in secret. In typical Restoration fashion, secretive loving leads to mistaken identity and lovers' quarrels, sorted out only through the imaginative manipulations of the volitional Donna Violante. After many misunderstandings, near run-ins with parents and siblings, and other such antics, the lovers sneak away for a rendezvous in the park where they are all appropriately united. Celebrate the power of love and wit with us in this first production of the Grinnell College Theatre Department's 2003-4 season.
