Caryl Churchill’s Far Away depicts an apocalyptic vision of a world in which everyone is at war with everyone else and the weather is allied with the Japanese, gravity is on the side of the Bolivians, elephants with the Koreans, and ants with the Moroccans. People are killed by coffee, pins, heroin, petrol, chainsaw, hairspray, bleach, and foxglove; and each prisoner wears a lovely hat. A world which seems to move closer every day.
