Off-Campus Study in Seville and Madrid

Seville: CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange)
Year or Semester

Program emphasizes language and cultural studies. A four-week orientation with intensive language study is followed by a semester with a choice of courses in language, literature,history, arts, and social sciences at either the University of Seville or the CIEE center. Work in teaching English as a foreign language also available. Prerequisites: third-year standing, Spanish 285.

Madrid: IES (Institute for International Education of Students)
Year or semester

Courses in history, political science, economics, law, Spanish literature, sociology, art history, and music. Advanced Spanish courses restricted to students with 3.2 GPA and strong Spanish. Full-year students may take courses at the University of Madrid. Prerequisites: third-year standing, Spanish 285, and one course in European history or culture.

Madrid: Hamilton College
Year (preferred) or Semester

Program based in Madrid where the cultural, educational, social, and geographic benefits are optimum. Program emphasizes culture and language. Spanish must be spoken at all times, both in and outside of class; all students are required to sign a pledge to this effect before arrival in Madrid. Prerequisites: designed primarily for students who will be in their third year; overall GPA 3.0; at least one college course in Spanish above the intermediate level. Enrollment in program limited to 35 students.
