Q&A with
a campus b-boy:
Most people who know me see me as a breakdancer, but actually I was engaged with other dances as well. I was in Emanate my first two years (haha, good memory). IÕve been involved with Javanese dance since my first year and participated in the Dance Troupe show three times.
Crazy cat
adventures:
Andrew Greenberg is probably the only self-avowed carnivore who has ever cooked for Vegan Co-Op. Greenberg, with his former housemates from Russian House Allison Mynsberge Ō04 and L.P. Trotora Ō03, was a founder of Campus Carnivores, a group which Greenberg said was formed in 2003 to answer the timeless Grinnell question: ŅHow can we get school money to buy meat?Ó
'Still searching
for truth and meaning'
College is often seen as a place and time where young people
find themselves. This was true for Katie Kiskaddon, but
the identity she found might be a bit outside of what Grinnellians
normally expect. In December 2003, Kiskaddon converted to
Islam after studying many different religions. "It
was a lot of, 'this is how I believe things, and this religion
actually embodies a lot of things that I believe,'"
Kiskaddon said. "I really consider that IÕm still searching
for truth and new meaning."
Renaissance
man
Ho hum, just another ordinary four years of liberal arts education at Grinnell for Ben Hanes Ō05, who was co-captain of the Frisbee team, organized Titular Head and double-majored in Russian and Music. His overture is being performed this weekend by the Grinnell Orchestra, and three months after graduating heÕll be spending about two years with the Peace Corps, most likely somewhere in Eurasia. All that, and his finest Grinnell memory was a party.
Wanderlust
and electricity
Emily Markovitz has never gotten a speeding ticket, and itÕs not because she drives slowly.
Planning
for the Future
We asked the graduating seniors what they plan to do after
graduation: this summer, next year, the rest of their life
...
Ravishing
Rachel revels in her fashion and art
Rachel Dobkin deliciously dazzles dedicated dressers. As
opposed to those who voluptuously indulge in sweat pants
and wife beaters, Dobkin egregiously and with regularity
stuns out-of-town shoppers with the steze of an MC. Asymmetry
is her game and popularity her gain!
Braving the
corn for a dream
ŅItÕs been like a dream,Ó Katya Pekarskaya said about her
journey to Grinnell and her experiences here. Although she
was born and raised in Russia, and is planning to attend
graduate school in England, Pekarskaya has lived a distinctly
American dream.
Talking politics
with DJ gonZo
Adam Culver loves both political theory and hip-hop, and
heÕs filled his time at Grinnell with both.
Competition
drives Hirschey, both on and off the field
Competition seems to be a theme for Nick Hirschey, though
his competitors are an unconventional combination: football
players and complex math problems.
Showing off
(and up)
Matthew Phelps and Andrew Maginniss have been roommates
since their first year at Grinnell, when they lived on the
fourth floor of Norris. In addition to living together,
they have juggled together ever since the first week of
college.
