POW I-80 goes to Washington
On Tuesday, Feb. 8, the Poweshiek Iowa Development Group, known as POW I-80, took a two-day trip to Washington, D.C. to talk with Iowa’s congressional delegation. The group was formed around June 2004, according to theatre professor Sandy Moffett, who serves as Poweshiek County Supervisor and chair of POW I-80. POW I-80 was formed to encourage business development throughout the county and help grow rural communities.

Five computers stolen since November
Last week Steve Briscoe, head of campus security, released a crime alert warning students and faculty to lock their computers because of recent thefts on campus. Since November, four laptops and a desktop computer have been stolen, as well as several memory chips, which were removed from computers.

Ewins’ life honored at memorial
At 2 p.m. on Feb. 12, Grinnell students and faculty gathered in Herrick Chapel to celebrate the live of J.R. Ewins ‘07. Ewins was praised as passionate, loving and a committed Christian. “Many felt well-loved by him,” said Chaplain Deanna Shorb in her welcoming remarks. “He was actively engaged as a Christian,” she said. This included membership in the Campus Christian Fellowship and a long-term commitment to the First Baptist Church in his hometown of Lincoln, Ill.
