Go away Super Wal-Mart
There’s a smorgasbord of reasons why Wal-Mart is a big, evil, no-good corporation. The largest employer in the U.S., Wal-Mart virulently opposes unionization. It sells clothing made by child labor and under hazardous sweatshop conditions. Wal-Mart is facing the largest employment-discrimination case ever brought against a private employer, for systematically discriminating against 1.6 million women in pay, promotion and job assignments. The New York Times ran an exposé on Wal-Mart forcing workers to work off the clock and even, literally, locking them into the store. Wal-Mart sells guns, but censors music, and has reportedly contributed more to Bush than any other company. [more]
