Grinnell football finished its campaign with a 35-19 win at Beloit. The Pioneers, thanks to two straight road wins to close out the season, finished with a 6-4 mark. Matt Teeters ‘05 caught three touchdown catches. Trey Raney ’05 also snagged a touchdown pass early in the third that gave the Pioneers an imposing 29-7 lead. Raney, who finished with five TD catches and over 700 yards receiving on the year, was one of ten Pioneers named to All-Conference status this week. Raney and lineman Sam Jones ‘05 both were named to the First Team. … Led by Justin Riley ‘06’s 15th-place finish, Grinnell men’s cross country finished fifth at Regionals last week at Wartburg College. The Pioneers barely missed qualifying for Nationals as St. Olaf, Carleton, Wartburg and Nebraska Wesleyan advanced. … The women’s cross country team finished 12, with Meredith Groves ‘08 leading the way with a 27th-place finish. Luther won the meet, with host Wartburg finishing second and Carleton and Nebraska Wesleyan also advancing. … The Grinnell men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams opened the season Friday with resounding wins over visiting Monmouth at Obermiller Pool. The men’s team scored a 176-70 victory, while the women won by an even larger margin, 196-81. Both teams swam in the Alumni Meet on Saturday as well.
