The end of Express
Southern Express will close at the end of this semester as one of several changes
planned for Dining Services as the transition to the new Campus Center begins.
Other changes include meal plans with fewer meals combined with more Dining
Dollars, a Forum Grille that is open longer with more food options and more
“display cooking,” where the meal is made to order. [more]

Tom Crady, vice president for Student Services, opened up Wednesday night’s open forum on the proposed smoking ban by reassuring students that “there has been absolutely no decision made” on the issue.

A pair of Grinnell students swept the recent 32nd annual Nick Adams Short Story Contest, causing a flurry of excitement in the English department and marking the first time ever that a Grinnell student has won the contest.

Understanding donations at Grinnell
If you are planning on graduating from Grinnell at some point, chances are you’ll sooner or later be donating to the Pioneer Fund. Out of the 11 to 12 thousand private sponsors who donate to the fund each year, around nine thousand are alums. Together with trustees, parents, corporations, family foundations and friends, alums raise an estimated $2.7 million for the college each year, a significant 5 percent of the college’s annual operating costs.
