Back from Iraq: Mitchell on campus again
In late January 2003, Derrick Mitchell, originally a member of the class of 2005, got a call saying he should prepare to leave his family and friends for deployment to the Middle East. A few weeks later, he was in Fort McCoy, Wyo., undergoing training to be a medic as well as to defend himself in case of an ambush. After the training sessions he flew to Mosul, Iraq, where he stayed until late March 2004 when he returned home. [more]

Committee to select new RLCs
Four current RLCs, Mandy Fox, Tim Bosler, Amy Kuipers and Don Weston, will leave the residence life staff at the end of this semester. As a result, the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) Selection Committee has begin working to hire new staff members for next year. During April, the committee will work to attract and then interview qualified candidates with varying backgrounds in higher education. [more]

Tuesday evening, a large crowd gathered at the Grinnell Community Theatre to journey through 125 years of women・s fashion in Iowa with Valerie Van Kooten, an expert on the women・s fashion industry. Using selections from her collection of over 3,000 clothing items, Van Kooten lectured on the major styles in women・s fashion and their evolution in Iowa. [more]

College drops plan to relocate bookstore
Osgood said that the high cost of the move made it unfeasible. Buying the property, renovating the building, and moving the bookstore and library books would have cost between $500,000 and $1,000,000, he said. [more]
