A couple of days back I was talking with a Math major who informed me that John Kerry had eclipsed the magical delegate number of 2,162, thereby securing the Democratic nomination. Upon hearing the news, I got in my friendˇ¦s face, pushed my index finger into his chest and sternly said: ˇ§Look, silly Math major, life isnˇ¦t about numbers, itˇ¦s about power.ˇ¨ After showing him irrefutable empirical evidence of my claim in the form of the 2000 election results, the Bush tax cuts and Republican Medicare reform, he quickly dropped any assertion that it was time for me to get out of the race.
