Clearlakeˇ¦s Cedars clean but uncreative
Clearlake shares its name with towns in Iowa and California, and, if it werenˇ¦t for their British accents, they could probably be from either of these places. This band of dreamy boys from the British Isles opened for the Decemberists on Wednesday night with just a little bit of good old-fashioned rock and roll, a style prevalent in their latest album, Cedars.

Marathon
Tom Heinl sang about peeing in a cup on a car trip as a young boy and read to the audience from his 5th grade journal while sitting in a rocking chair. Touching moments like this abounded at the Wednesday concert in Gardiner Lounge. The lead singer of Clearlake, the second act in the line up, politely asked moshing students to make sure not to get hurt and Colin Meloy of the Decemberists demurely asked for a beer and drank it gratefully when an adoring fan brought it to him. Between these acts of intimacy with the audience, they managed to play an eclectic variety of music styles, with instruments ranging from gasoline cans to accordions.

Dirty Pretty Samurai
Bradley: Everyone grumbled as the dorm lockouts lifted last weekend, but the reopening of Harris should sooth some of the sting of the impending six weeks of suffering. Over spring break, I had time to carry children on my back, teach a little boy named Guillermo to color a rainbow and pickaxe Mexican fields. I also saw an awesome movie, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Too bad I didnˇ¦t see any of the stuff at Harris this weekend. Whoops.
