Drug arrest on campus
Last Saturday night between the hours of 12 and 4 a.m., the Grinnell Police Department cited two students, and made one arrest for possession of marijuana. Delwin “Pink” Pinkins ‘06 was arrested after police were called and obtained a warrant to search his room.

Constitutional changes
Wednesday, Feb. 11, Joint Board (JB) unanimously agreed to suspend the golden rule and invoke the elastic clause in order to pass an amendment to the constitution that could have significant effects on the presidential and vice presidential elections this year. The amendment removes the requirement for students running for SGA president or vice president to publicize any academic or conduct probations they are undergoing.

Grinnell activists protest curtailing of civil liberties
On Nov. 16, 2003, Grinnell librarian Chris Gaunt was arrested when protesting in Des Moines, Iowa. “I face charges of assault on a peace officer, interference with arrest and trespass,” said Gaunt. “My plea is ‘Not Guilty.’”

Fight for your rights
While many people see teenagers these days as apathetic and apolitical, Galen Andrews is out to change the stereotypes. He’s fighting to get a civil rights organization involved in his academic community and more high schoolers interested in the political world around them. Andrews is a sophomore at Grinnell High School (GHS) who is determined to set up a chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Despite opposition among his peers and possibly the administration, Andrews is working with the ACLU chapter at Grinnell College to bring awareness of political issues to the high school crowd.
