"Sadness into silliness"
Erin Nichols ‘02 can’t quite describe Jonathan Raxter’s voice, but it was one of her favorite things about him. It wasn’t twangy, she said, but distinctive – smooth and Southern. She can still hear it in her head. “I can imagine him saying anything.” [more]

Finding the time
The ’01-’02 student staff had a fool-proof plan as they approached the large bulldozer. In keeping with tradition, each hall staff was collecting pictures for the student staff photo scavenger hunt. [more]

Remembering Jonathan
He taught me that I shouldn’t always drive in overdrive. I didn’t realize this until I was driving with him, and he said, “Why are you driving in overdrive?” And I’m like, “I always drive in overdrive.” In high school this blond lifeguard that I was friends with, she told me to drive in overdrive because it was better for the car or something. So ever since, for about four years, I was driving in overdrive. He taught me that above 45 is overdrive, not under 45. I was telling that story on Saturday and [Suzy] Shmagin ‘03 was like, “Really?” So he’s still teaching people how to drive. [more]

Remembering Lenko
He joined the team his sophomore year. In one of the first opportunities he had to win a 50/50 ball, he made a slide tackle challenge that leveled one of our All-Conference players from behind. I’m pretty sure practice came to a standstill. Lenko wasn’t intentionally vicious, nor was he trying to make a statement. It was simply how he played the game: aggressive, hard, not taking any play for granted. I can’t say I knew Lenko all that well in matters unrelated to soccer. What I have learned about him in the last week, though, is that being aggressive, playing hard and not taking anything for granted was not just how he played the game, but it was how he lived every day. I sincerely miss him. [more]
