Speaking before Joint Board one week after the student body overwhelmingly approved an initiative calling for more dorm labs, Dean of the College Jim Swartz and Information Technology Services (ITS) Director Bill Francis argued that fiscal discipline will motivate what they called a “modest and reasonable trimming” of general-usage computing services.

Agreement reached in flag case
John Bohman ‘06 and Juan Díaz ‘06 hung an American flag, upside down, from their dorm room window in September. They say the Grinnell police threatened to charge them with desecration of the flag if they did not remove it. Bohman and Diaz took it down on Sept. 26.

Trimming costs at PEC
PEC weight room hours were cut this year in an attempt to be “cost efficient” and due to staff perceptions of low usage at certain times of day, said Dee Fairchild, Director of Athletics.
