Random Rants
Appliances have rights, too
I'm growing increasingly concerned about the violation on campus of our inalienable right as Grinnell students, to sense upon our tongues the deliciousness of a golden waffle during dining hours. While I have enjoyed many a succulent waffle thus far in the school year, I can't help but feel concern while observing the usage of waffle irons for non-waffle related practices, specifically for the grilling of waffle- tainting sandwiches. Not only is this practice perpetuated contrary to the common waffle good, but it also explicitly violates dining hall protocol visibly detailed on signage. Do some Grinnellians truly hate America?

Feels too much like Micky D's
I really like the new dining hall, but the thing that annoys me the most is the fact that healthy options are hard to find. Outside of the salad bar, we (sometimes) have veggies at the "homemade area," and second-rate vegan options. However, we always have pizza, burgers, and fries. I like the new food, but it's hard to eat right when most of the food options come from fast-food places.

Seeking ride and maybe more
As fall break approaches, I cannot help but lament the lack of a ride board in our shiny new post office. What better way was there to waste time after class than to peruse the colorful pleas for rides, promising everything from brownies to eternal friendship in return? Or better yet, the elusive offer, "Going to Chicago-room for one," an exciting ticket to weekend escape. Seriously though, the ride board served a practical purpose, pairing ride seekers with rides. What are we poor, idealistic car-less students to do now? Has it really come down to stalker-netting people from your destination city and awkwardly emailing them? "Um, hi, I know you live in town X, want to take me home?" Give us back our ride board so we can once again ride away into the Iowa sunset with dignity.
