DISCUSSION LIST
|
|
Course
Description |
|
In addition to completing readings prior to class, in order to facilitate discussion, you will also be expected to particpate in an electronic discussion list (with questions, comments, objections, whatever). These need not be lengthy (a couple of paragraphs maximum), and can take any form you like, as long as they are 1)legible; and 2)comprehensible, i.e., written with attention to grammar. They might consist of questions about a passage, thoughts on characters, themes, motifs, connections with other texts, etc. They may also incorporate other materials from outside of class (perhaps a cartoon, a poem, a conversation). Think of this exercise as a preliminary to your written work. Students will be required to respond according to a schedule, to be determined during the first week of class. There will also be a posting for informal discussion, should you wish to communicate with your classmates in this way. You can find the discussion board HERE.
Your username and log-in (the seven-digit code) will allow you to enter the discussion board.
THE DISCUSSION BOARD WILL BE ASSIGNED AS FOLLOWS: The class will be divided into groups of three; each group will be responsible for framing three questions about the works we are considering (texts, films, etc.). The questions must be completed by midnight on Saturday. The rest of the class will then need to respond to these questions by Tuesday, 5 p.m. Your questions and responses will become part of your over-all grade.
The groups are as follows (and have been arrived at randomly:
Group I (Weeks 2, 7).
Group II (Weeks 3, 8).
Group III (Weeks 4, 9).
Group IV (Weeks 5, 10)
Group V (Weeks 6, 11)
