Women and government in the 21st Century focus of symposium at Grinnell College
GRINNELL, Iowa - Politics and the influence women may have in the coming century is the focus of a symposium at Grinnell College titled "Women, Politics & Leadership for the 21st Century."
The symposium is from Tuesday, February 5 to Thursday, February 7, and will feature Betsy Myers, director of the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Alumni Programs, External Affairs Office. She will speak on "Women in Politics and Leadership: From Clinton to Bush," at the Scholars' Convocation at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 7, in Herrick Chapel. The symposium is free of charge and open to the public.
Sponsored by the Rosenfield Program in Public Affairs, International Relations, and Human Rights at Grinnell College, participants will discuss the potential leadership roles women will play in the future, as well as review the role women have historically played throughout the world. Included in the symposium will be the film "The Secret to Change," in the Forum South Lounge, followed by a discussion with Mildred Jeffrey, winner of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
