COLLEGIUM MUSICUM
Oleg Timofeyev, director

Comprised of instrumentalists and singers interested in performing music of the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classic periods. Replica period instruments are available on loan : pipes (recorders, flutes); windcap reeds (crumhorns); double reeds (shawm, dulcian); horns (trumpets, trombones, sackbuts); strings (violin family, viola de gamba family, zither, harp, lute, guitar, harpsichord); and small percussion. Transfers from modern instruments to these earlier counterparts can often be made fairly easily.

The goals of the group are to play early music well in formal and informal appearances; to share good musicianship and fellowship; and to learn about historical instruments, repertoires, and playing conventions. Section placements are held at the beginning of the semester.
