Schedule
Please be sure to mark your name on the attendance sheet at each rehearsal. If you are participating in the choir for credit, here is the arrangement with regard to attendance: you are allowed up to four absences. If you are absent more than four times, you will receive either a WP or a failing grade, depending on the circumstances. If you fail to inform the director of your absence on more than one occasion, you will receive either a WP or a failing grade. (Here are John Rommereim's coordinates: home: 236-9033 or 236-3889; office: 269-3068; cell phone: 990-2630, email: rommer@grinnell.edu).
Regular Rehearsals: Monday evenings, 7:00-9:00 p.m., Bucksbaum Center, room 104
A few tips:
Bring a pencil to each rehearsal so that you can: 1) note breath marks and other details of articulation, 2) circle spots that you miss so that you can figure them out later.
Please do your best to be in your seat a few minutes before 7:00p.m. each Monday so that we can start on time.
As you learn the music, train yourself to turn your eyes away from the score as often as possible and focus on the conductor. This is particularly important when we sing with the orchestra. Many singers find that if they practice detaching themselves from the score at each rehearsal, they can easily have a work like the Mozart Requiem memorized by the time of the performance. It's a matter of developing the right habits in rehearsal.
