Preliminary discussion of Curd funds. The department needs to develop strategies to use these funds effectively.
Basic information: There are two funds, each approximately $13,000
I. Curd Fund for the Music Department (figure listed in budget).
$13,000. Previous ideas: music festival, study tours. Proposals for expenditure of this year's funds solicited from the department with an Oct. 1 due date. Concern: Curd I should not devolve into budget relief.
II "Curd Fund for Student Scholarship" --also roughly $13,000. Expenditures in three areas: 1) competitive "Curd/Hill" awards, 2) support for upper-level students' research, and 3) discretionary help with lessons fees.
Interim review plans (McIntyre and Ewoldt)
Set date for Curricular discussion (musicology and related issues)
Proposed Ashanti concert ($750)
