The Spirit Of Flute (pdf)
Schedule of Events and Deadlines
Updated: 3/3/08
We are looking forward to an amazing Iowa Flute Festival this coming Saturday and wish you all safe travels and plenty of sleep the night before! A few final suggestions regarding Festival day:
Directions to Grinnell College- There shold be ample parking on the street early on Saturday morning right around Bucksbaum Fine Arts Center, which is at the corner of Park St. and 6th St.
You may enter the building from the Park St. door (the main entrance to Bucksbaum) or the 6th St. door on the east side of the building (around to the right if you face the Park St. entrance). From the Park St. entrance, walk straight in and down the long hall. Keep going to the end of the hall, where it opens out into a large rotunda. Registration is there. You will be directed to practice rooms, etc. at that point. The 6th St. door is off of a small circular drive on the east side. You may park on State St., a small street off of 6th St. just slightly east of the Park/6th intersection, and you will be looking at the 6th St. entrance. Simply go down the hall from the entrance, and you will come to the Rotunda where registration is taking place.
2) There is no convenient place to leave heavy coats or other personal belongings. I suggest you leave such items in your car that you don't need to have with you all the time.
3) There will be snacks and lunch available to purchase in the Rotunda. Lunch is a limited time, noon to 12:45. We will estimate the lunch supplies based on preregistration, and it is possible that supplies will run out. There are numerous fast-food restaurants within moments by car, but there is no area in the BCA with food or drink (i.e. no vending machines), apart from what the Festival provides. If you have a favorite food or drink that you MUST have that day, bring it yourself or plan to run into town during breaks :) We will have bottled water at the food table.
4) If you are associated with a summer or other music program that you'd like to advertise, there will be a place to leave brochures at the registration table.
5) Any urgent last-minute questions may be directed to Claudia Anderson's email, anderso5@grinnell.edu or cell phone if really really urgent. . .515-229-7824.
See you this Saturday!
