BASICALLY BAROQUE AMES, IOWA

Basically Baroque was founded by Lynn Zeigler, harpsichord, and Kevin Schilling, oboe. Zeigler and Schilling are on the music faculty of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. They have been playing together for over 20 years. Recently the group expanded to include two new performers: Mary Pshonik, cello, and Rebecca Stuhr, baroque flute. Pshonik is a recent graduate of Iowa State, and now works out of Des Moines. She is a member of the Des Moines and Central Iowa Symphonies and has an active teaching studio. She is also a member of the string quartet, Phoenix. Stuhr, a librarian at Grinnell College in Iowa has been a member of Musica Humana, the I-35 Consort (Kansas City), and the Baroque Orchestra of Iowa. She has made guest appearances with the Early Music Consort of Kansas City. Basically Baroque plays a variety of music but focuses on early music performed on period instruments.
