Since 6th grade, I have designed websites for parents, friends, organizations, Matrix, and various other projects. The collection below showcases the progression I have gone through as a designer as well as giving exposure to the various sites's owners.
Kabissa.org (Coming Soon) (2007)
I am interning with Kabissa in Washington, D.C. from September to November of 2007 and my main project is a redesign of their website. At present the old design is still up but keep your eyes peeled for a release in late October or early November.
Grinnell Prison Workshop (2007)
This site is for the impressive Grinnell Prison Workshop that teaches writing, art, theater, and more at two prison's (one men's one women's) outside of Grinnell.
ByteBack.org (2007)
I interned at Byte Back over the summer where I spent most of my time developing a youth technology curriculum.
ByteBack Typing Tutorial (2007)
This design was created to showcase a javascript typing tutorial which was heavily edited (in function, appearance, and content) for use by Byte Back.
HemmonsWork.com (2007)
This site was done for a board member of Byte Back's (although not on Byte Back's time or dime, of course). This was not quite a completely new design but was a significant sprucing up.
A Modest Proposal for a New Grinnell Website (2007)
While the campaign to redesign the Grinnell website has yet to come to fruition, I spent over two months creating and explaing a possible replacement design.
MRW in DC Blog (2007)
I tore apart a blogspot template for my bizarre blog design. The blog is purely for keeping friends and family up with my comings and goings in DC.
Social Entrepreneurs of Grinnell (SEG) (2007)
This new microfinance group of which I am a part of was founded by a close friend at Grinnell. As of October 2007, SEG has already raised over $3300.
In Loving Memory Of Kim Perez (2006/2007)
This site was created as a memorial to one of my father's best graduate students who was tragically killed in a car crash in Africa before finishing her doctoral work.
The S&Blog (2007)
I severely edited the Blogger template for the Grinnell Newspaper Blog. I am also the graphics editor for the newspaper itself.
emily & mark: explorations in art (2006-07)
A quick site I threw together to house the art work of a friend and me over winter break of the 2006-07 school year at Grinnell.
The Voicebox (2006)
Made for The Voicebox, the new student activist resource center at Grinnell College.
A Sociological Study of Grinnell Plans (2006)
The results of a survey I did on the Grinnell Plans community. It is listed on the Wikipedia entry for Grinnell College.
Michigan State University African Studies Center (2005/2006)
While I did not fully design this site, I pushed the design further - making it more functional - while also helping to drastically reorganize and streamline the content of the site.
Tinosmarble.com (2005)
Dellatolas Marble Sculpting Studio in Tinos, Greece.
Identification Please - Communication and Control in an Online Learning Environment (2005, published 2007)
A site made with my brother, Steve Wiley, for publication in Kairos, an online journal.
Greater Lansing Youth for Peace and Justice (2004)
Formerly, glypaj.org, glypaj.net is information and pictures about a group I helped found in 2000.
The Fourth Dimension (2004)
A project for Junior English. There's some really cool art and illustrations on this site.
The South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (2002)
This was made for the largest community group in Durban, South Africa. They have accomplished a huge amount.
Mark's Buddy Icons (2002?)
This is from freshman year of highschool when I didn't have a whole lot to do. Sorry, I don't make the icons anymore, but you can have any of them there if you really wanted.
