mark's project #5 statement of intent

Having come up with this assignment, it was something that immediately struck me as FUN. Emily and I had just finished our cook book for her grandmother that involved lots of "vectoring;" however, it was all for stylistic reasons in an attempt to create non-photo graphics that shared similar characteristics. These similar characteristics are the beauty and frustration of vectoring, so I thought we should take a full assignment to delve into it.

So that is what I did. I intended to focus on color and composition but ended up focusing mostly on the latter. However, I think the subdued colors that are prominent in a few of the pieces give an interesting effect to the pieces, not letting any one part "pop."

Because the process of using the LiveTrace feature is so simple, it allowed for me to do many different pieces, and yet I still struggled to pick which ones I liked the most. In the end, I tried to pick the widest variety of the ones I liked.

Quite possibly, the most challenging thing was the time spent naming the pieces. I found myself struggling with the exact reason I picked the project in the first place. Would I name it after the object pictures, what the image appeared to be, neither, or both? I made different decisions, and I have yet to decide which was the correct decision; if there is one that is. . .
