mark's project #4 statement of intent
*shudder* Normally by the time I have finished a project I have an idea of what my concept was, but not so much this time.
Drawing is something I have not done since elementary school art class and I think it showed in these pieces. After doing the first drawing, I thought the mask was the strongest part of the image so I redrew, only much larger. Finally, after coloring in the corner, of the second piece, I noticed the fun outline it left on the piece of paper below it. I proceded to cut up the piece I had been tracing from and redrew the second composition, this time with each shaping having the outside of it colored in.
Throughout this project I struggled in every aspect. I found that oftentimes I wasn't even drawing the object while looking at it, I would just do it how I thought it had looked the last time I looked up. The only interesting thing about the pieces in my mind was the different strokes of crayon. Some were at a 90-degree angle to the page while others were shaded lightly with a 30-angle to the paper.
I ended up with three pieces that showcase the fact that I had no idea what I was doing.
