The largest nearby town is in Germany, just across the Polish - German

border. It is called Foerst. The name of the Polish village now is Ritwyny.

Its German name was Rinkensdorf, but it no longer exists - a victim of the

many generations of warfare fought over that part of the world.

Foerst was hard hit during WW2. When we were there a few years ago it still

bore the scars of the war.
