In May and June of 2008, McIntyre presented a series of performances, masterclasses, and lessons on both modern and classical horns in Cape Town, South Africa. He performed for and worked with students at the South African College of Music at the University of Cape Town, school children, and brass players studying with the South African Army band.
His primary teachers include former Cleveland Orchestra principal hornist, Myron Bloom, Volker Altmann of the Vienna Philharmonic, Jay Andrus and Nancy Goodearl of the Houston Symphony, and natural hornist Richard Seraphinoff.
