Materials:
- Computer lab space is needed to conduct the lab, which should be done at least partially during regularly scheduled class time.
- The dataset for this lab is 2006 Stock Market Data .xls . This data represents closing Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P daily values as retrieved on February 13, 2007 from http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=%5EGSPC.

This introductory lab focuses on simplifying three stock market measures to one variable. This simplistic Principal Component Analysis (PCA) lab focuses on visual interpretations instead of mathematical calculations.

Instructors Notes:
Prerequisites: An introduction to linear algebra is helpful, but not required.
Class Discussion: It is somewhat challenging to manipulate three dimensional graphics in Minitab, clarify with students that perfect rotations are not necessary.
