sociology 291 - research methods f08

This course surveys the means by which social scientists gather and interpret information about collective phenomena. Its focus is empirical in that it examines data collected first hand rather than reports based on other peopleís investigations. In addition to learning about and using quantitative and qualitative methods, the course challenges participants to reflect on the assumptions underlying method selection.
