Job Summary

The Senior Intranet Architect will design, develop, plan, install, configure, monitor, and maintain the Grinnell College SharePoint intranet. The successful candidate will join the Grinnell College Enterprise Systems team and have substantial knowledge of SharePoint architecture, functionality, configuration, and branding. Able to analyze information architecture and understand business requirements, the Architect will also configure and maintain organizational taxonomies, site collections, policies, and procedures; and create effective solutions for business needs. The Senior Intranet Architect will work closely with colleagues to brand, install, debug, and maintain necessary third-party software packages. Strong communication, customer service, troubleshooting, and organizational skills and the ability to complete assigned work with minimal instruction and supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Development experience with PowerShell, InfoPath, Workflow, and SharePoint Designer.
• Working knowledge of various web design/graphic design tools.
• Classic vs. claims based authentication concepts including Active Directory Federated Services.
• Knowledge of complete M365 environment, and service integrations.
• Enterprise search capabilities and proper configuration for best performance.
• Quota management and resource throttling.
• Understanding of third party solution maintenance and sandboxing.
• Roles knowledge of test and production environments in SharePoint and options for promoting from test.
• Demonstrate best practices for software upgrade and patching.

Essential Responsibilities

Responsibility

Oversee the SharePoint and Teams infrastructure, including user access and application deployment – taking the lead role in implementing SharePoint across the organization. Support the installation, configuration, security, operation, and maintenance of all software related to SharePoint infrastructure. Work closely with Information Security on compliance and security best practices.

Responsibility

Develop, configure and maintain document libraries, enterprise lists and site collections. Perform typical system administrative activities such as site creation, backup, restoration, and issue resolution. Some user training will be required.

Responsibility

Work with IT Project Managers and end users to design and develop solutions to address business needs and opportunities and propose changes that would make the SharePoint environment a more effective solution. Examine requirements documents and create technical design documents, unit test, system test and implementation plans for small to complex projects.
