JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Alumni and Donor Relations for Career Programs will lead Grinnell College’s innovative efforts to develop and cultivate alumni volunteer opportunities designed to advance the career, civic, and personal development of Grinnell College students. This position is responsible for planning and executing events and initiatives that are already part of the program, and to develop and facilitate, along with colleagues in Development and Alumni Relations and in the Center for Careers, Life, and Service, new opportunities for alumni and parent volunteers to engage with students. The Assistant Director serves as the liaison between faculty, staff, and students and alumni and parent volunteers in order to achieve programmatic objectives and support related College initiatives. The Assistant Director will serve as an integral team member of both the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) and the Center for Careers, Life, and Service (CLS) in enhancing overall alumni engagement with the College.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordination and Development of Alumni, Parent, and Volunteer Participation in CLS Programs and Initiatives
•Enhance and oversee volunteer recruitment strategies for CLS student programing with a particular focus on the Career Communities
•Collaborate with CLS and DAR staff (as well as campus partners) to connect volunteers with CLS programming opportunities such as: industry treks, speaking engagements, and service opportunities
•Consult with CLS and DAR staff members about new avenues for volunteer engagement
•In conjunction with CLS and DAR staff, coordinate and expand alumni participation in key existing career development programs (e.g. GRINNELLINK summer internships, alumni shadowing and externship programs, and alumni visits to campus)•Support the Alumni Council Alumni Student Connections Committee

Development and Execution of Alumni and Student Affinity Events
•Coordinate an annual Affinity Symposium, an Academic Weekend, and GRINNELLINK receptions to engage both alumni and students in the exploration of specific careers and/or career paths via specific shared attributes (e.g. academic major)
•Engage relevant campus partners to assemble the programming for these events

Support CLS donor stewardship
•Manage the production of annual stewardship reports to endowed and current use internship fund donors
•Create communication strategies to celebrate all alumni and donors who engage with, and give to, the CLS to demonstrate the outcomes made possible through alumni and donor investment

Must demonstrate entrepreneurial attitude, flexibility and comfort with a fast-paced, complex organization. Proven written and oral communication skills strongly desired.
