JOB SUMMARY

Within a highly collaborative team environment, partner with other communications staff members and campus stakeholders to steward the College’s brand and express it in the most exciting and effective ways for external audiences. The Content Specialist – Social contributes to the creation of multi-platform content in support of Grinnell’s mission, goals, and strategic priorities, and will:

• Execute integrated communication strategies based on a shared understanding of the College, including mission, vision, and values as well as institutional identity and brand strategy; its audiences and stakeholders; and our communications channels.
• Work with team members to develop and execute creative, engaging content that meets project objectives for campus stakeholders, donors, and alumni, student recruitment, image-building, and other operations of the College as assigned.
• Monitor engagement with our content and share insights and recommendations to improve and optimize content.
• Continue to develop discipline expertise, remain up-to-date with industry best practices, and share skills and knowledge with fellow team members to advance cross-training and strategic integrated communications practices.

The Content Specialist - Social's responsibilities include publishing content to the official College digital media channels, ensuring the College’s key messages are being presented in a deliberate, timely, accurate, and compelling fashion. Under the direction of the Director of Content Strategy - External Relations, works with strategic campus stakeholders to identify needs, develop strategy, and determine workflow requirements. Collaborates with the Sr. Content Strategist - Media Relations and our agency, TVP Communications, to support the College's media relations, working with faculty to promote them as subject experts, and supports efforts related to local, regional, and national reputation.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Creation
Produce high-quality content that maintains College identity and brand standards and meets project objectives.
•Write, photograph, coordinate, and publish content to the official College social media channels (including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram), ensuring the College’s key messages are presented in a deliberate, timely, accurate, and compelling fashion.
•Prioritize social media messages; monitor, identify, assess and elevate relevant departmental content to the institutional level.
•Promote noteworthy College activities and achievements through all appropriate channels.
•Work with the Sr. Content Strategist - Media Relations and our agency to support the College's media relations, collaborating with faculty to promote them as subject experts, and support efforts related to local, regional, and national reputation.

Content Coordination
Manage workflow, communicate with stakeholders, coordinate projects between Communications staff and vendors.
•Provide ongoing website training, resources, and technical support for approximately 50 faculty and staff content managers. Assist in training and supervising student staff.

Brand Management
Ensure brand, identity, and quality standards in all content development.
•Monitor content and assess impact of various initiatives and activities on the College's reputation (brand). Respond to messages as appropriate.
•Evaluate trends, and assess emerging platforms to recommend appropriate college involvement.

Content Strategy
Consult with stakeholders and contribute to the development of strategic communication plans.
•Contribute and implement strategic communications plans for overall strategy, timelines, institutional campaigns; and develop metrics of assessment that link to results.
•Counsel other campus social media users to ensure consistent strategy, messaging, appropriate voice, and high standards of accuracy.
