Opportunities in History

History Associates Incorporated, a professional historical services firm located in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, is seeking intelligent, energetic people to serve as research historians.

Qualified individuals will have an outstanding academic record (GPA 3.5 or above), research experience and superb writing skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and a genuine enthusiasm for the study and use of history. History majors and non-history majors who meet these criteria are encouraged to apply.

Students' Summer Plans

Sarah Urch - is going to be interning at the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (in Lake Tahoe, California) for the Planning and Legal Departments. This is her second summer interning for the TRPA, and she will be conducting research, site visits and assessments, and other assistance to the agency's planners and legal staff.

Dan Rothschild, ’02 - will be interning with Peace Action and the Student Peace Action Network in Washington, DC.

Garrett Shelton, ’00 – will be working in NYC for the avant-garde jazz label and club, Knitting Factory Records. It's an internationally known record label, and quite a historical one as well. While there he will serve as Assistant to the Label Manager. He is excited for this opportunity because he is really going to get a chance to see how a record label works. He invites anyone who is going to be in the city to get in contact with him. He would love to take them out to see some jazz....

Paul Pasquesi, ’01 – will go back home and caddy to make money for Grinnell. He will also be working at a Day Care center for Mentally and Physically challenged adults and seniors on his days off. He will run a lot, play with his nephews, and attempt to teach himself Greek. He will be going to Germany in August.

Julian Zebot, ’00 - will be working in a Detroit law firm before heading to law school in the fall at the University of Minnesota.

Josh Blue,’01 - will be spending his summer teaching for the Summerbridge program once again. This time he will be at University High School in San Francisco, California. He anticipates he will be teaching rising seventh and eighth grade students literature and an interdisciplinary course on Forensic Science and the Law. Josh will be spending eight weeks in the Bay area and can not wait to explore the city!

Seth Ford, ’01 - will return to his home in Edmond, Oklahoma where he will spend the summer working at a temp agency. In the fall, he will attend the Newberry Library Program in Chicago.

Sarah Liebman, ’02 - will be interning with the Chicago Center for Family Health. She will be working on curriculum and program development in order to create the nation's first training program to help mental heath professionals serve lesbian, gay, or bisexual, individuals and their families. In the fall she will participate in the Newberry Library Seminar.
