SEG's Mission Statement

The Social Entrepreneurs of Grinnell (SEG) seek to foster mutually empowering connections between the developed and developing world. SEG works to give agency to individuals in order to sustainably address the self-perpetuating social and economic problems of inequality.

SEG Goals

Short-Term

  • Enhance current relationship with Kiva.org
  • Institutionalize SEG with a Grinnell College bank account
  • Create a way for people to donate on campus
  • Send letters home with students about SEG
  • Expand the website

Long-Term and Continuing

  • Continue to raise and build SEG's funds through collections, fundraisers, and donations
  • Get SEG official 501(c)(3) status
  • Move beyond Kiva.org and independently partner with microfinance and "fourth sector" (socially-responsible for-profit) institutions
  • Obtain Endowment funding from Grinnell
  • Expand internship and research opportunities
  • Partner with other on-campus groups for fundraising
  • Foster relationships with businesses in Grinnell
  • Expand SEG beyond Grinnell College, across Iowa and U.S.
  • Partner with a faculty advisor group
  • Partner with the Socially-Responsible Investing (SRI) project at Grinnell College
