Listen to the entire show: (MP3)

  • Last week Julia drove out to speak to Collette Hill, co-owner of Iowa's own Sugar Grove Winery. Hear what this local foods advocate has to say about growing wine in the Midwest and what's coming up for this Jasper County gem. (MP3)
  • And Linn stirs up his wholesome Iowan values with a trip to Carroll’s Pumpkin Farm, where visitors fire corncobs from air guns, watch middle-aged men launch stuff with medieval assault weaponry and hand over their six-year-olds to a man in a clown costume, so he can “levitate” them several feet off the ground. Oh, and there are pumpkins, too. (MP3)

Listen to the entire show: (MP3)

  • This week Sarah presents a special theme show addressing the part of Grinnell life which is arguably THE MOST IMPORTANT to the functioning of the school. No, thank God, we're not going to talk about self-governance. It's coffee. Today we'll sit down with some of the school's most devout coffee addicts and unapologetic coffee snobs, heading from the Grille to that den of iniquity, Bob's. And, for the first time ever, ON AIR, we'll reveal the source of the best coffee on campus which, we find out, is ground by a robot named Solis Master 5000.

27 Sept. 2007
Listen to the entire show: (MP3)

  • This week Julia sits down with everyone's favorite percussionist on campus, but he's not a student. RLC Kim Hinds-Brush's husband Randy talks about what the transition to Iowa was like, and how he's become so involved in campus life. (MP3)
  • Linn previews subversive Moroccan art at the Faulconer. (MP3)
  • And Sarah heads over to an unusual basketball game where the home team loses, the winning team tackles players, hip-hop dances mid-court, and hundreds of Grinnell townspeople watch a small girl shake it to Beyonce. (MP3)

20 Sept. 2007
Listen to the entire show: (MP3)

  • Julia reports on Madeline Albright's stop in Grinnell last Friday and listens in as Grinnellians gather to hear this famous woman's take on foreign policy. (MP3)
  • Linn talks with Wayne Moyer about that scholastic jewel of the prairie, the Rosenfield Program. (MP3)
  • Julia and Sarah head all the way to the Harkin Steak Fry in Indianola, getting caught up in the media mayhem of one the largest Iowa events for Democratic presidential hopefuls, where they watch 12,000 liberals fill up on steak and potato salad while listening to six - yes six! - hot caucus stars speak their piece. (MP3)
