nexuses of writing activity--there are several student-run writers'
groups on campus. These groups run workshops, hold readings,

Prozac and Cornflakes is a collective
of student poets which has come together in order to "encourage
writing and augment the English curriculum, as well as to include
those writers who are not English majors." Ac- cording to
founder Vanessa Gennarelli, "We also do poetry exercises
and trust -building activities to help poets who do not normally
interact to trust one another with their writing." Vanessa
lists her group's mission statement thusly: 1) To encourage poets
to write on a weekly basis, and give thoughtful feedback and
criticism to their reading; 2) to create a writing community/forum
on the grinnell campus; 3) to practice/hone our reading skill
and become comfortable reading in a public setting; 4) to eventually
hold a series of readings to showcase a semester of work. If
you're interested in taking part, contact Vanessa.
The Grinnell Playwrights Collective is organized around the principle that, in
the process of creating a theatre piece, playwrights often find
it extremely useful to hear their work read aloud. That's why
the Playwrights Collective meets regularly with student actors
to do readthroughs of their work.
