Re: Cultural Film Committee
I am happy to report that the committee, consisting of Dan Reynolds, Kesho Scott, Zorka Milin (student member), and myself, staged a successful series of films this past academic year. We showed 13 films during each semester, for a total of 26 for the year. With those films, we brought to Grinnell a variety of directors, geographical regions, genres and time periods. (See attached sheet). We remained within budget for the year: Out of an allocated film budget of $6, 930.00 we spent 6458.50 (94.5%) .
As in past years, in 1999-2000 it was generally the case that more recent films (and more expensive films) were the best attended. I am pleased that the committee received the requested budget increase for FY 2001, which should enable this year’s committee to put on an exciting series.
In addition to the regular committee members, I would like to thank Lisa Mulholland, Ivan Perry (and the A/V staff), Carla Surendren, Terri Williams, and Helyn Wohlwend for their support. Mike Rosenthal, the previous Chair of the Committee, also contributed a great deal to last year’s series. Thanks also to your office for its continued support of Cultural Films at Grinnell.
