Agenda:
1. The minutes
from the 9/24/02 meeting were approved as corrected.
2. The new course
REL 111 was approved.
3. The course
approval proposal was passed with a few modifications suggested by the humanities
division. Attached is the final approved procedure for making course changes.
The committee will next review the instructions that will be sent to all faculty
regarding the new procedure
4. The committee
approved the proposal that each segment of a MAP project will have its own grade.
5. The committee
approved by a vote of 8 to 2 that a MAP project should always start with 4 credits
and then could be followed with a 2 credit MAP but a MAP project should not
start with a 2 credit MAP.
6. The committee discussed a two part application process for summer MAPs. Part A and B would be due on the Monday of the tenth week of spring semester. Faculty directors of summer MAPs could choose to postpone submission of Part B until the first Monday after Memorial Day. The application would not be complete (and thus would not be approved) until the completion and submission of both Part A and B. Part A would consist of the time commitment for both the director of the project and student as well as a statement on the part of the student explaining the relationship of the project to his/her previous studies. Part B would consist of the topic and project description. The Associate Dean and Registrar agreed to do a mock up of the two part application so that the divisional representatives of the committee can take it to their respective divisions for discussion of the concept.
