Minutes
Curriculum Committee
September 7, 2004

Members: James Swartz (Chair), Jean Ketter, Gerald Adams, Daniel Reynolds, Lee Sharpe, Andrew Grimm, and Wayne Moyer.

1. The committee established an end time at 5:45pm
2. The committee discussed potential agenda items:

a. The strategic plan that is being developed may have elements to it that the Executive Council may want us to address.
b. MIP's-to review
c. Hidden prerequisites that in reality increase the total credits required for a major
d. Examine the requirements distribution for a second major, to study off-campus, or to be approved to graduate in less than eight semesters.
e. Registration and pre-registration procedure. This is a cultural issue and not a technical issue.

3. The committee was asked to consider a proposal to allow transfer students to enter Harris in the first group at fall registration because for many of them it is critical to get the classes they need as soon as possible as many of them have less then eight semesters to complete a major. The committee will discuss this at our next meeting.
