Minutes
Curriculum Committee
September 5, 2006
Members: James Swartz (Chair), Gerald Adams, Eliza Willis, Lee Sharpe, Dan Reynolds and Michael Billups.
1. The committee added the following agenda items:
a. What is or what should be the role of the CC with respect to EKI?
b. The issue of the arrangement of chairs and tables in classrooms where these are moveable.
c. The particular difficulties associated with wooden chairs in ARH and their replacement.
d. Discussion of the expectations for OCS, waiving residency reqs, double and independent majors
2. The committee decided to discuss this proposal with each of the divisions as well as with members of SGA: On a trial basis the January 2007 registration on Sunday would be eliminated. In addition, the signature of the instructor to add a class not at capacity would not be required until the starting of classes second semester. Classes at capacity or balanced would still require the signature of the instructor to add. A final decision on the elimination of Sunday and signature requirements for registration will be made by the Curriculum Committee in the spring of 2007.
3. Assessment of MAPs. The committee decided that a more structured set of questions regarding the quality of MAPs would work much better than an open ended invitation to assess MAPs. Various members will provide the Dean with suggested questions which he will incorporate into a single document for committee review.
4. The committee briefly discussed on-line registration but no conclusions were drawn at this time.
