Curriculum Committee
April 26, 2005
Members: James Swartz (Chair), Gerald Adams, Daniel Reynolds, Lee Sharpe, Jean Ketter, Rebecca Miller, Courteney MacKuen, Abel Lomax, and Wayne Moyer.
Agenda:
1. The minutes
from the 4/12/05 meeting were approved.
2. REL 226 was
approved contingent upon determination by the Dean that the new library purchases
are reasonable.
3. REL 241 was
approved.
4. The proposed
changes to the catalog description for Independent Major were approved.
5. The question
of the use of B.C. and A.D. in course descriptions in the catalog was raised.
The committee decided to put this on the agenda for next year.
6. The committee
began a general discussion of the relationship between MAPs and Independent
Study. The Executive Council has decided that they will need more information
before they can proceed with the recommendation sent to them a year ago from
the committee regarding the compensation for independent study. Dave Lopatto
is working on a prospectus for a survey regarding Independent Study that this
committee will review in the fall.
