1. The minutes from the 4/10/01 meeting
were approved.
2. HUM/SOCSTD 140 -change in course description
was approved.
3. Change in Chinese Major -- place CHI
498 in both part I and II -- was approved.
4. ENG 250 a new GIL course was approved.
5. The consideration of SOC 380 was tabled.
The committee wants to know more about the frequency of this
offering and about how the creation of this course will effect
the staffing of SOC 390.
6.The consideration of ANT 154 was tabled.
Pablo Silva, on behalf of the committee, will discuss the following
points with the Anthropology Department:
1. Proposal needs to address questions in section #9 (especially sub 3 'an explanation of the adjustments in staffing')
2. Proposal needs to be coauthored with Technology concentration committee.
3. Proposal should explain why other Anthro courses that don't contribute to major are still being listed in Anthro.
4. Proposal should ask to delist cross listing from Social Studies.
5. Proposal not passed by science division.
[Note: The Registrar's Office received an e-mail from Bruce on 4/27/01 that said the science division had approved the change.]
7. The committee did not approve the proposal for a new concentration in Policy Studies. The committee was uneasy about approving a new concentration that required acceptance to and completion of the Grinnell-in-Washington Semester which is in a one year experimental phase.
