Curriculum Committee
April 8, 2004

1. The minutes
of the 03/09/04 meeting were approved.
2. Internship
applications will be reviewed at the May 4th meeting.
3. The committee
approved a proposal from the Philosophy Department to move the deleted courses
POL 264/265 to the Philosophy Department and list them solely as PHI 264/265.
They were previously cross-listed in both departments.
4. The committee
reviewed the data submitted by Jim and then continued the discussion of option
4. It was decided by the committee to edit our current proposal for further
discussion and then the committee will vote on whether or not it will be submitted
to the executive council with Jim's data as a backing paper. Tyler, Diane, and
Andy agreed to work on the proposal for the committee to consider at our next
meeting
5. The committee approved the following proposal for the registration of special students.
1. Special students are eligible to enroll for credit in any regular course or any special topic course except alternate language study courses (ALSO), independent studies, research, or internships.
2. All special students will be required to get the instructor's signature to confirm that he/she appears to be suitably prepared to enroll in the indicated course.
3. The enrollment form can be submitted to the Registrar's Office any time but not beyond the last day to add a class in any given term. Only degree seeking students are preregistered.
4. Enrollment forms normally will not be processed until the day after registration for each term.
5. Special students will not be allowed to enroll in any class that was over-subscribed after preregistration (i.e. any course in which a degree seeking student was denied enrollment).
6. Special students confirmed as prepared by the course instructor will be allowed to enroll in:
a. Any course that never closes such as private instruction or calculus.
b. Any course that has not been closed before or on registration.
