Curriculum Committee
March 13, 2007


Members: Jon Chenette, Gerald Adams, Eliza Willis, Erin Hurley, Lee Sharpe, Dan Reynolds, Jason Cook, Matthew Alexander, and Alexandra Kieffer.

1. The minutes of 022807 were approved.
2. Proposal for a new concentration: Policy Studies APPROVED. It will not be sent to the faculty for approval until the Dean has resolved staffing issues.
3. Proposed course changes:
a. New Course: ANT 225-APPROVED
b. New Course: ECN 262-APPROVED
c. New Course: ECN 369- APPROVED
d. New Course: ECN 384 – APPROVED (note: this course will be a part of the seminar rotation scheme)
e. New Course: EDU 21X-APPROVED
f. New Course EDU 213 - APPROVED
g. Changes in the Technology Concentration.-APPROVED
h. New Course POL 222- APPROVED
i. New Course ENV 125 (the committee briefly discussed the question from the Social Studies Division concerning how the course would “count” toward divisional credit (for instance, for OCS permission) but since the question of distribution has not gone before the faculty yet further discussion was tabled at this time. )
j. Changes in the Environmental Studies Concentration—APPROVED
k. New Course BIO 339- APPROVED
l. New Course MAT 310-APPROVED
m. Cross-Listing of Courses-After a general discussion by the committee on the nature and function of cross-listing it was decided that it would be the next item discussed by the committee.
n. New Course HUM 350—after striking the request that it be repeated for credit it was approved
o. New Course GDS 251—APPROVED.
p. New Course THE 204 -- APPROVED
4. Each of the divisions has discussed the various options on distribution requirement for OCS, early Graduation, and Second Major. The committee has decided it is time to take the issue to the faculty. Dan Reynolds and Eliza Willis will put the finishing touches on the document before it goes to the faculty.
