Curriculum Committee
March 1, 2005
Members: James Swartz (Chair), Gerald Adams, Daniel Reynolds, Lee Sharpe, Jean Ketter, Rebecca Miller, Peter Clough, Courteney MacKuen, Abel Lomax, and Wayne Moyer.
Agenda:
1. Approval of
the minutes from the 2/15/05 meeting.
2. Science Division:
a. MAT 310 -- new course-was tabled. The committee would like the department to add MAT 115 to the prerequisite to increase the audience for the course.
3. Social Studies
Division:
a. The proposed changes to the Political Science Major were table. There is some confusion as to what is required and what is "strongly recommended" for the major in courses outside the department.
b. EDU 212-- new course -- was approved
c. ECN 291 -- new course-- was approved provided that the course can only be taken once for credit.
d. ANT 300 -- new course -- was approved.
e. ANT 200 --new course-- was approved.
f. ANT 210 -- new course-- was approved.
4. Humanities
Division:
a. Changes to the German Major. Track 1 was approved and Track 2 will be presented to the Faculty for approval with a recommendation from this committee that it be approved.
b. GER 121 -- new course-- was approved
c. GER 233 -- new course-- was approved
d. GER 303 -- new course-- was approved
e. Changes in the Art Major-- was approved
f. ART 260 -- new course-- was approved
g. ART 148 -- new course-- was approved
h. THE 106 -- new course-- was approved
i. Changes to the Music Major-- was approved
j. MUS 202 -- new course -- was approved
k. MUS 322 -- new course-- was approved
i. Changes to the Religious Studies Major-- was approved.
m.. REL 266 - new course-- was approved
5. The committee and the Dean approved the following resolution: departments should publish real caps to course size and courses are not to be closed with enrollments below the maximum course size as set by the department at the time they submit their course offerings. The committee and the Dean have empowered the Registrar to enforce this resolution.
