Minutes
Curriculum Committee
February 10, 2004

Members: Gerald Adams, Diane Robertson, Andy Hamilton, Tyler Roberts, Mark Montgomery, Devan McGranahan, and Elizabeth Clark. Guest: Marci Sortor

1. The minutes of the 01/27/04 meeting were approved.

2. There was a lengthy discussion of the proposed survey. There was a discussion of whether or not there should be a question about prioritizing all independents including MAPs. One member pointed out that compensation in a way has already established MAPs at a higher priority than independents. Some members of the committee felt that the survey was too long and too complicated. One member said the survey in its present form would only solicit comments from those who are already heavily invested in MAPs/Independent activities and if it were shortened we might get a higher rate of return. There was also a question as to how much reference should be made to MAPs. The committee decided to table the survey until some of these questions can be answered. Committee members will send Carol Trosset their comments regarding the survey so that at our next meeting we can look at a new version.

3. The humanities division wants the CC to rethink the need to have divisional approval for changing the prerequisites of courses.
