Continued review of summer workshop proposals

  • The Grant writing workshop will not be held. Instead, Karen Wiese will meet with each division in the fall.
  • Leaders of the Images and Inquiry workshop will revise the workshop as requested, adding a wrap-up session.
  • Leaders of "The Concept of Power" have sent a revised description. The content of the workshop will depend on participants' previous experience. The concrete outcome of the workshop is not clear aside from building interest in Policy Studies. This workshop was approved by those present.
  • The Center for Humanities proposal was provided for information only. This is a revised version of the approved proposal.
  Consideration of Curricular Development proposals:
  • Antoinette DeNapoli (REL 117 field trip) ................................................................. $550
Approved by those present.
  • Craig Quintero (Steppenwolf trip) ........................................................................ $2056
Concrete outcomes are very clear. Students will not only attend a play related to their course materials, but will also meet with actors as well as the founders of the theatre. Approved by those present.
  • Ellen Mease (THE 202 field trip) ............................................................................. $513

It is not clear why this field trip is necessary to the class, though it is directly tied to the course materials. Concrete outcomes for the students were not outlined. Course-related field trips were designed to support one-time opportunities. ISC recommends that the Department of Theatre and Dance build field trips into its departmental budget. Discussion and voting will continue via email.

Respectfully submitted,
