Attending: Paul Munyon, Shuchi Kapila, Albert Lacson, Chris Davis (STAC), Roger Vetter, Karen Shuman, David Romano, Richard Fyffe, Leslie Gregg-Jolly, Terri Phipps Spring 2008 ISC meetings: Meeting Wednesdays at noon will create a conflict for some committee members. For spring, we will investigate the possibility of meeting during the Convocation hour on days when no Convo is held. Terri will provide a schedule to committee members. Curricular Development proposal: Faculty/Faculty tutorial (PHE/SOC): approved $1375 Teaching Writing at Grinnell: Leslie will contact Judy Hunter in light of the committee's discussion regarding the likely discontinuation of support for regularly scheduled lunches. Budget discussion: Leslie explained how the budget process is progressing and relayed that all areas of the college have been asked to consider ways of reducing spending including thinking creatively about the best use of available resources. The Committee explored ways in which ISC could help ease the College's budget needs, while recognizing that instructional support will remain its highest priority. Discontinuing support for individual faculty stipends for independent course development and regular lunch meetings was suggested in order to be able to maintain support in other areas of instructional support and faculty development.
