Attending: Richard Fyffe, Leslie Gregg-Jolly, David Romano, Shuchi Kapila, Karen Shuman, Roger Vetter, Al Lacson, Terri Phipps

Minutes of April 13 approved.

Discussion of potential budget cuts for Library subscriptions has been tabled until the joint meeting with new ISC members.

Curricular Development proposals:

  • MAT: Linear Algebra Computer Exercises – approved $1420
  • HIS/ENV: The Environmental History of the Midwest –tabled
    • Faculty members will be invited to the next meeting.
    • Questions: Who will digitize images?
    • Who will enter and upload the data?
    • How will access to material be organized?
    • What platform do they plan to use?

Faculty-Faculty Tutorials :

  • Moyer/Skerrett – approved $725 (EKI)
  • Moyer/Marzluff – approved $1375 (HHMI)
  • Kuiper/Rebelsky – approved $1375 (HHMI)
  • Praitis/Rebelsky – approved $1375 (HHMI)
  • Meehan/Kapila – approved $1375 (EKI)

The Committee discussed whether placing a cap on faculty members' concurrent projects should be considered. No decision has been made.

Assessment of summer workshops

Some suggestions to consider:

  • What types of projects are most useful?
  • How is faculty teaching different because of participation in this workshop?
  • How has this workshop changed faculty pedagogical or intellectual outlook?

ISC members are asked to bring five bullet points of what this assessment should include.
