Curricular Development Proposals :

GRM (Weimar seminar): ISC agreed to fund at the second meeting level. Leslie will work with CSFS to make sure expenses are charged to the correct budget.

MAT (linear algebra): Discussion tabled. Leslie will contact faculty member for more information.

HIS/ENV: Discussion tabled. Leslie will contact faculty members involved for more information. Specifically, ISC would like a clear definition of the project design and database plan (platform, metadata standards, formats of data, referencing between types of data, and indexing), and timeline for the project.

SOC: Registration and transportation approved ($255). Per diem was not approved as the conference is being held in Des Moines.

SOC (Fudan University conference): ISC will forward this proposal to CSFS as it relates to faculty member's research.

Faculty-Faculty tutorials: discussion tabled. HHMI funding may be available for three of the proposals.

For further consideration:

  • Guidelines for multi-tiered proposals. For instance, if a faculty member is attending a meeting for research, but while there has an opportunity to do pedagogical work.
  • Guidelines for faculty-faculty tutorials
  • Should ISC, in consideration of heavy demands on faculty time, limit the number of concurrent projects they will fund for individual faculty?

Respectfully submitted,
Terri Phipps
